  12.         Here is version 3.01 of STart-it!!! This will probably be the 
  13. LAST version you will see. I will only fix bugs contained in the program,
  14. nothing more! I'm really sorry to tell you again that this version of
  15. STart-it will NOT be able to read your old preset and preference file.
  16. I've distributed so many different versions of the program that I've lost
  17. track of what were the difference in them. If there is ever a version 4
  18. of the program I promise that you'll be able to use your old files with
  19. it. That was a BIG mistake I've made, I've learned from my mistake, hey,
  20. I also had to change my preset and preferences many times myself too!!!

  22.         Some new functions were added:
  23.  
  24.         - The main screen has been re-designed, no more buttons laying
  25. everywhere. They all have been put in dropdown menus.
  26.  
  27.         - The file selector is almost working as the real GEM file selector.
  28. You can type the name of the file in the SELECTION box.
  29.  
  30.         - There is 2 'other files' types added, for a total of 4.
  31. The revert button in these windows was removed to make room for the
  32. destination file name. Only the file name is shown, not the complete path.
  33. You can still 'revert' the display of these files by clicking on the
  34. info box where the file name is written.
  35.  
  36.         - You don't need to rename your 'other files' type with the
  37. extension; .F1X, .F2X, .F3X or .F4X. Just copy them in their respective
  38. folder and change the last letter of the extension to X if you want.
  39. There are dummy files in those folders. Their name is DELETE.ME, and they 
  40. were put there just for archiving purpose. You MUST delete these files
  41. before running the program...

  43.         - The MEMO is now 'intelligent'. If it contains something and
  44. you have selected the "SHOW MEMO" option in your preference settings, the
  45. program will show you the memo each time you bootup until you press the
  46. CLEAR and SAVE buttons to clear its content and save it. You can exit the
  47. memo by pressing the right mouse button.
  48.  
  49.         - When you select MAKE in the preset menu, the program will ask
  50. you if you want to choose a program to AutoRun for that preset.
  51. I've included this option because many people did not understand the way
  52. you could include such a program in a preset.
  53.  
  54.         - You can now load or save 4 presets bank for a total of 196
  55. presets available. The default preset bank is START_IT.PRF, it will
  56. be loaded every time you boot-up. The name of the bank in memory is
  57. displayed in the PRESET window info bar. If you think that 196 presets  
  58. is not enough, I'll sell my computer, shave my hair and go to Tibet to
  59. live the rest of my life as a monk...
  60.  
  61.         - The PRESET window has been changed: it is wider. The preset
  62. number is shown at the left and the corresponding F-key at the right
  63. of the preset name.
  64.  
  65.         - There is an info box displaying help when using some functions
  66. (like reordering auto programs or making a preset). Normally this box
  67. contain: "STart-it!!! , version 3.0, (c)1993 SCHAUZMOLL". Just check
  68. the box to know what to do when you use these functions...
  69.  
  70.         - STart-it can use HEAD START for AutoStarting GEM programs.
  71. Just put Head Start in your auto folder and be sure not to change the
  72. name to anything else than HEADSTxx.PRG, where xx is anything at all.
  73. Be careful not to have STARTGEM and HEADSTART in your auto folder...
  74. STart-it will use the 'W' function automatically for the HEADSTRT.DAT
  75. file, this option is useful when using the MultiDesk accessory. You can
  76. still use STARTGEM also.

  78.         - A "panic" button was added. Hold the "Esc" key when you
  79. boot up and the program will not run. Do it as soon as you can and hold
  80. it as long as you can... STart-it will alert you that is has been bypassed.

  82.         - It is possible to reorder files in the auto folder. STart-it 
  83. only renames the files in the SCRAP folder and then renames them in
  84. the auto folder so no files are actually copied.
  85.  
  86.         - In the CONFIGURE STart-it screen there is another button.
  87. "MORE" will bring up some new functions. You can choose to display
  88. auto programs and accessories in their true order or sorted by name.
  89. You can also set STart-it to show the write protected files in your
  90. auto folder. You can also choose to display a picture even when you
  91. skip STart-it with the hotkeys option.

  93.         - It is possible to exit most of the screens with the right
  94. mouse button...

  96.         - The SET TIME and SET DATE button have been replaced. You can
  97. get these functions by clicking on the time and date display buttons.

  99.         - Two buttons have been added to the AUTO and ACC windows.
  100. They are located in the upper right corners of the windows. They serve
  101. to select the display of files in their true order or sorted by name.
  102.  
  103.         - A new button appears beside the "SHOW PICTURE" in the
  104. STart-it configuration screen. You can choose to display pictures in
  105. random order or sequential order. 
  106.  
  107.         - When you choose to play a sample with your welcome picture,
  108. STart-it will first try to find a sample with the same name as the
  109. picture to show. If no samples with the same name exist a random
  110. sample will be chosen.
  111.  
  112.         - I've included a little program called MEMOEDIT.PRG in the
  113. archive. This program will create a memo that STart-it will be able to
  114. load. That way you can edit the MEMO before you turn off your computer
  115. and get it the next time you bootup.
